Dear Readers,

It is with regret- and with a little bit of glee- that I announce that Exanna will be retiring. My real life has sort of taken up a lot of time, and I have been cool with that. I’ve been working hard trying to get a promotion at work, and we bought a new house that requires decoration! Home ownership was a big step for us, and I have to say Hubby and I are enjoying it. Before the move, we lived literally less than three-minutes from work. Our commute is now up to 20-minutes which means rushing home after working late to raid has not been feasible.

Add to that that I am retiring on a very high note. I finally finished one expansion pack boss, the Lich King, before the next xpac is released! Mind you, I have not killed LK on heroic, but just the 25-man regular kill was enough.

In all the guilds I have been in before, we were NEVER able to finish the old content before the new content came out. And I have been in some good guilds.

of Cenarius took me to a new level.
But I really want to say “thank you” to of Cenarius for making me a Raider. It was only because of you guys that I accomplished this WoW lifelong goal. LK is dead, dead, dead.

And a huge thank you to the readers and friends who stopped by, gave me advice, and read all the happenings of Exanna’s adventures. We’ve talked about healing, raiding, crafting, guild relations, patches, and I have enjoyed every second of it. I love to write, and I love WoW. Putting the two together seemed ideal. Thank you for reading my stuff.

It has been a long journey. I think Hubby and I started playing in 2007. I have not decided what to do with my account just yet. I know I will be keeping it long enough to get the “What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” achievement. Midsummer is my last event for this. I thought about playing my DK, but I can’t remember the last time I ran DanityKane through anything! And who knows… maybe time will permit me to play Exxy again one day. I doubt it, though. For now, I will be keeping an eye to see when the cataclysmic events start to take place. That will be fun to watch!

I am content.

The Lich King is dead, and the friends that I did make in-game are still my friends out of the game. I like that. I played a lot, met a lot of different people, heard a lot of stories, ran at least two interventions on vent, made a lot of gold, cussed out a lot of folks, kicked a lot of ass, pissed a lot of people off, and LOL’d a lot while doing it all.

So, goodbye, friends. I will be figuring out how to move these articles to a non-paying version of the site so that people who still need strategies can find them. I will be retaining the domain name, however, for infinity. I love the name. OMG.. Priest! It’s awesome.

And so are we. We are the largest gaming community in the world, playing the most awesome game in the universe. Enjoy it, peeps. Keep healing and saving toons from their masters’ stupidity! And for one last time…

Only to find out the game does not thrill me like WoW. Go figure. Sigh. Maybe my schedule will get back to normal soon. I have a six-day work week this week. Soooo- no raiding for me.. unless I can figure something out. Ohh, Exanna, I am going to make you live again.

My Key to the City

I totally forgot that I had applied for a key to the APB game. Soooo… I guess I will be trying this out in my spare time. I have not been able to log on to raid on WoW for a few weeks now, and due to my work schedule, I have no idea when I will be on. So organized raiding is sort of iffy right now. This will be a nice distraction as I mourn the comatose state of Exanna right now.

I hope all is well with all of you, and I hope this post finds all of you kicking whatever is left of ICC in the arse. For many it will be the last few bosses of ICC that will get the best of them, but don’t give up, the finish line is closer than you might think. I find that we are all in the lag period before the expansion pack. For me, I have also been distracted. We’re moving to a new house, and I really haven’t time to think about raids between that and work. Buying a house is a stressful process! It was worse than any defile LK ever put on my toon.. seriously.

I just wanted to see how everyone is doing out there in the blogosphere. What are your thoughts on Cataclysm? Will you be a Worgen? How are your raids? Heroic ICC kicking your butt? Any fab loot to speak of? Any new healing techniques I should know about? Anything.. at all? Anyone wanna write something and post it here? LOL

Easily Defiled but Not Broken

I haven’t posted much of anything lately, but I had a quick break and figured I would share what helped me make it through the Lich King and all his Defiles. And for those who haven’t killed him yet, I hope my tips will help you and your guild make it through. I think I got like three of those Defile things last night- and I didn’t wipe the raid! It’s a miracle! LOL

I remember writing more than a month ago that this fight and the Defiles was all about pre-moving. I still believe this is true, but let me take you step by step of how I deal with this phase of the fight. TankSpot is spot on when the guide says, “Phase 2 is all about handling defiles and proper slows.” To avoid wiping the raid (fingers crossed everytime) and possibly being docked DKP, I did the following:

DBM… duh… DBM warns when LK begins to cast Defile. It will also tell you who he targets when he targets them and put a symbol over their head.
FOCUS FRAME: If you look at the pic here, you will notice that my focus frame of the Lich King is right over my healing mod. This allows me to see who the Lich King targets as he begns to cast defile. If it’s me, I body-and-soul AWAY from the raid. Originally, the raid leader designated NORTH as the drop off point, but we soon abandoned that for “use-your-brain-in-your-situation-and-don’t-wipe-the raid”-type stategy.
DefileWhisper: This is a mod available on Curse.com. It whispers anyone that LK casts Defile on. I don’t know that it helped me that much, but it did whisper all targets. Maybe it helped them. (Click on the name to download it.)
AVR: I know this mod (also available on Curse) does not work in this encounter; however, the GM made a map of the preferred drop zones to the north of the raid. These circles were to the right and left of the portal in the back of the room. Get this, too: AVR Boss Encounters (Click on the name to download it.) UPDATE: Blizz is killing this mod in Patch 3.3.5. Too bad I just got the darn thing last week!
Chat Bubbles ON: When someone says, “Defile on me!’ RUN away from them. Common sense, right?
Zoom out! Yeah, max cam distance on this one. This allows you to get a good look at the room in its entirety, where you can run, and where the targets are- if you have good eyesight.

The very first Defile happens after the Valkyrs and after a good Infest. We usually stay bunched up and really pray that the first person to get it won’t drop it in the middle of everyone. For the rest of the Defiles, you really have to get the timing of them down. You want to be bunched up for the Valkyr- and hope the raid can slow them and get them to drop the person before carrying them to their death. And when the five-second countdown for Defile pops up EVERYBODY starts moving out. If you are the target, you want to get away from people. If you are not the target, pay attention so you can get away from the target without spreading purple death everywhere. Also, try not to drop the DEFILE in the path of the Valkyr. That sucks when they finally drop the person and they end up dying anyway. LOL

It took us a long time to kill this guy. It was hard work but well worth the hours put in. Now.. we get to start HEROIC. Let the new adventure begin!

I am guessing “no” as I pretty much abandoned this blog, cut back on my playing time, sort of started working out, and got back to doing other things I really enjoy. Like reading! Let me see… The Kiterunner, The Immortal Life of Hattie Lacks, and a bit of Tom Sawyer. I also watched The Kiterunner movie.. it made me cry. My husband likes to make me play the new Resident Evil game- which gives me nightmares. I hate zombies. I’ve also become quite a fan of HGTV lately. So outside of WoW, I’ve been halfway living life as I did pre-WoW. I have to say.. it’s been nice. I lost weight and everything! LOL

My poor DK still transmutes, but she does little else. Although, today she did get a new weapon and a new rep ring from AV. All I did was log her on to transmute, and an old friend immediately sent her an invite to ICC. I was like, “o…k….” I almost forgot how to play her, but I quickly got into the groove of things. It was fun.

LK Lives

On my main, Exanna, I only raid three days a week now- which has been a nice break! And in pretty much prick-less guild- so that helps, too! We got LK to 30-something-percent last week, so I am guessing that effer will die soon. OMG! I can only hope. Defile has proven to be a real bitch- but we are getting the hang of it. It’s nice to Body-and-Soul out of stupidity!

Renew This

In other news- my healing is now very renew, CoH, and PoH heavy. However, again it always depends on the fight, and it also depends on knowing exactly when damage will spike. Changing servers has really challenged me to be a better healer. I feel like I need more crit though. So we will see.

Double Solace

‘Tis a state I never thought I’d reach. Heroic Jaraxxus proved to be a nightmare for my guild on Antonidas, and once ICC came out, no one ventured back to the Tournament Grounds to keep trying. So I figured I would never see Double Solace, but I am now the proud owner of Solace of the Defeated and Solace of the Defeated-Heroic. I spent almost all of my DKP to get the heroic version!

It may sound crazy to spend it all, but the two trinks together are still considered by many to be the BiS combination for Priest trinkets. Together they offer not only a spellpower boost but amazing mana regen. I have found myself going /oom in the LK fight, and this may help.

I look forward to using these trinkets as a new raid week begins. I also look forward to analyzing the double stacks of mana regen. OMG… Procs! So stay tuned for that!
